Fat March Finale…. Is it really over already?

l_1c756045ff53158177a8e956acb63c98.jpgI’ll admit, I’ve been dragging my feet, not wanting to write up my recap on Fat March, because that would solidify that it is over. That I’m not going to be watching folks I’ve come to think of as friends battle their weight as I battle my own.

But here I am, ready to write my final thoughts on ABC’s first weight loss reality show.

Fat March Episode 5 - Heating Up and Falling Down

l_1c756045ff53158177a8e956acb63c98.jpgSo I missed Fat March last night, as I was driving home from Canada. I sat down a little bit ago to watch my Tivo’ed episode and take notes for my recap.

Stage 5 begins with 245 miles left in Bart, PA. The marchers were expected to complete 18.2 miles in 5 hours. From the moment the show started, as a viewer, I could see that the team was hurting. They were tired, many were nursing injuries, and they were just weary in spirit. Matt’s knees were starting to take their toll on him, and the other contestants hobbled along the path.

Fat March Episode 4 - Tears, Sweat and Amish Hats, Oh My!

This is the episode I’ve been waiting for! I was so thrilled to see the Fat March cast working as a team, albiet grudgingly at first. With some incredibly long walks in heat and humidity, the marchers pushed through their pain to complete almost 30 miles in two days.

Fat March - My Story and Why I Really Left the Show

By: Wendy Alane Wright

I first heard about Fat March from my music manager
who told me to send in a video and try out. I had tons
of fun creating, shooting and editing my audition
video. If it had ended there, I would have been proud
of what I had done. I am good little filmmaker! But
low and behold, there was more to come!

Fat March - Episode Three - It’s Getting Hot Out Here!

Stage 3 of the Fat March journey to Washington, DC started in Connecticut. This leg of the journey would take them to New York City, and end in Time Square.

At the beginning of a 12.7 mile walk, the marchers had to deal with intense heat, which, when added to the myriad of injuries and discomforts already plagueing them, makes for a pretty miserable walk. Wendy complained about wanting to go home from the get go, just stating that she was done. Dealing with acute knee pain, Matt keeps on plugging, even walking behind with Will to make sure Will didn’t reach the end last.

Fat March - Stage Two Struggles From the Eyes of a Contestant

By William “The Champ” Millender

(author’s note: Thanks, Will for sharing your thoughts after these first two episodes!)

Stage Two has come to an end and it’s finally time to talk about those terrible two struggles. I ended stage one on a rough note with chaffing being an issue and I started off stage two just as rough. I remember the day being very hard to accomplish. I struggled to get to the end of that day in time. Shea and a couple of others had come back for Anthony and myself and just finishing that route up for the day was very hard. Lorrie and Shea, literally, pulled me through to the end point, up a hill, to make sure I got there in time, which was down to the minute of our end time for that day.

AUGUST 20

“Episode 103″ - The marchers rejoice as they exceed the 200-mile mark,
but a huge blow up is in the offing among Matt, Will and Anthony, as
tensions mount. Then, time stands still in Times Square when the walkers
get a very big surprise in New York City, on “Fat March,” MONDAY, AUGUST
20 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

The marchers set out from New Haven, Connecticut with $80,000 prize
money left for each contestant. Physical ailments are causing rapid
deterioration: Matt’s knees are in such pain that he feels they may be
ruined beyond repair and worries that he may not be able to continue.
Will struggles to get a grip on the physical and mental pressures that
are impeding his ability to complete the journey; and Wendy is rushed to
the hospital.

Fat March - Episode 2 Recap

109844_325_pre.jpgFirst, Yay! This episode showed more personality, and delved deeper into the relationships between the marchers. I was hoping for that last week, and was pleased to see that I got what I asked for.

Stage 2 of Fat March started with an 11.5 mile walk, and it seemed like right away, Chantal was rubbing people the wrong way. The marchers were weary from walking, and her drive to lead the pack caused some friction. Chantal doesn’t mince words, and speaks what’s on her mind, whatever’s on her mind at that moment. Not everyone appreciated it.
