Fat March - Episode 2 Recap

109844_325_pre.jpgFirst, Yay! This episode showed more personality, and delved deeper into the relationships between the marchers. I was hoping for that last week, and was pleased to see that I got what I asked for.

Stage 2 of Fat March started with an 11.5 mile walk, and it seemed like right away, Chantal was rubbing people the wrong way. The marchers were weary from walking, and her drive to lead the pack caused some friction. Chantal doesn’t mince words, and speaks what’s on her mind, whatever’s on her mind at that moment. Not everyone appreciated it.

Fat March - Stage One Struggles, a Contestant’s Perspective

109660_d_1053_thu.jpgBy William “The Champ” Millender

Wow, the Fat March has begun. The second beginning for me. This one was not so hard though. To see myself on television, making the changes, virtually becoming someone new. Some of our marchers were worried how they would come across on TV. Especially on a show with a title called Fat March. The title did not bother me one bit though. I actually found it amusing. We were indeed a group of fat people and we were marching. It would turn out that how I came across on TV would be the least of my worries. Because for a 472 pound guy, who literally just got off the couch from in front of a computer screen, to start walking 5, 8, 10 etc; miles a day, is unfamiliar and very uncomfortable territory.

Fat March - Trainer Diary

Steve Pfiester: I took losing Kim on the chin. What was I thinking coming into this thing 10 foot tall and bullet proof? I had bragged to everyone that if I start with 12, I will finish with 12. Kim was the first to pop that bubble. Read more…

Fat March Episode 1 Recap

Tonight was the premiere of ABC’s Fat March, and I was definitely impressed. As the contestants were weighed in and introduced, we got a taste of who was going to drive us nuts (Kim), and who we’d fall in love with instantly (Anthony).

Typical of a group of overweight people, when it was announced by Co-Hosts and Trainers Lorrie Henry and Steve Pfiester that they would be starting their journey at the Boston Marathon, grumblings arose, and comments like “Did you forget we’re still fat?” could be heard. From the start of the walk, it was apparent to those watching that Kim just wasn’t going to do it. Remembering a past conversation I had with Steve, I could see his frustration when he was walking behind with Kim, trying to find something to reach her. Disheartened, there was nothing he could do but stand by and watch her quit on Day 3, costing each of the other teammates $10,000.

Interview with Steve Pfiester, Co-Host and trainer for ABC’s Fat March.

new-york-216-crop6.gifI had the chance to talk with Steve Pfiester, Co-Host of ABC’s new upcoming weight loss series “Fat March.” We dicussed how he found out about the show and what process he followed to apply. After the series airs we will discuss his expereince with the marchers and tips on fitness. I have included his application video below.

Q. Mark (RealityWanted.com): Steve, can you start by telling my a little bit about your background and especially your background in fitness?

A. Steve Pfiester (Fat March): I guess it was a self esteem issue I had in early high school that started my lifting weights and wrestling. In college I lifted a bit heavier. Soon people stated asking me what I ate how to train properly. At the same time I went to Florida State for exercise science, was teaching aerobics and I was one of the only male instructors. I then realized I had become very passionate about that industry. I started getting people with specific needs, pregnant woman, older adults, etc. I ended up going back to school for Physical Therapy. After I finished school my wife Bonnie and I opened our gym.

The Man Behind the Marchers - A Chat With Steve Pfiester

So last night I got the opportunity to talk with Steve Pfiester (Trainer/Host, ABC’s Fat March) and get his take on the show, his role as a trainer, and his advice for those looking to apply for a reality show to get fit. Normally, when I call the Pfiester household, I’m chatting with Bonnie, and Steve’s passing by in the background (as most husbands are apt to do), mumbling random things.

After the initial “Hey, how’s it goin?” and typical conversation pleasantries, I jumped in and started asking Steve about Fat March. Boom! You could feel how much he cared from the instant shift in his tone of voice. This show, and the people in it have taken root in Steve’s heart, and he’s fiercely dedicated to them.
