bigbro.jpg

Last month, a selected group of reporters got the reality television opportunity of a lifetime when CBS invited them to spend a day in the life of a Big Brother contestant. CBS Mobile’s Amber Valdez, TV Guide’s Kimberly Caldwell, Fox Reality’s Mark Long, and our very own Mark Yawitz of RealityWanted.com were some of the lucky people invited to participate. The group spent one day in the shoes of a Big Brother contestant and got a first look at the season 9 house. Some areas of the house were off limits, so that it could remain a surprise when the new season premieres on February 12th.

Catching Up With Eric, An Exclusive Interview With Eric Stein Of Big Brother 8

l_cd3f8f7b8b7f6453e53b8d30f4f21d59.jpg

For the first time in Big Brother history CBS will air a winter edition of Big Brother thanks to the LA writers strike, the new season starts February 12th on CBS. It feels like Big Brother 8 just ended, Amber was talking about being on Top Model, Dick was pouring tea on Jens head, and Americas Player was playing for himself, America, and starting a romance with fellow house guest Jessica Hughbanks. Since I had such a short time with Eric at the Big brother finale I called him up a few weeks ago to see what he was up to.

Q. Mark (RealityWanted.com): We all know you were a Big Brother fan, was Big Brother 8 the first time you applied to be on the show?

A. Eric Stein, Big Brother 8: I applied to the second season of Big Brother right after I turned 21. I have always been a big reality TV fan ever since the boom back in 2000.

When I originally applied to Big Brother Season 2, I assumed I would never hear back from anyone. I was about to head out of the country after graduation when I applied. When I got home I had messages from the casting directors but it was too late to meet with them when I got home.

For five years I talked about what could have been or what would have been had I been able to meet them and made it on the show. When the chance to apply to Big Brother 8 came about, my friends and family said “Eric please apply now, or shut up”.

Interview With Big Brother Casting Director Robyn Kass

Mark RealityWanted.com: Robyn, thank you for taking the time to chat with us today about Big Brother providing hopefuls with application tips. Let’s start discussing the application basics.

A. Robyn Kass, Casting Director Big Brother: My first tip for applicants is simple, you need to apply. I run into so many people who want to be on the show, but many don’t take the time to apply and send in an audition video. The majority of tapes are repeat applicants. Many people assume we won’t see their tape, however, we watch them all.

Apply to Big Brother 11 Casting Call

Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: Since we’re on the topic, what tips can you give to Big Brother applicants on making their video?

A. Robyn Kass, Casting Director Big Brother: Make sure applicants watch their video before they send it in. I have received videos in which applicants transferred the video from one medium to another and they don’t realize their audio is missing. Read more…

Interview With Jessica Hughbanks Live From The Big Brother 8 Finale

images2.jpgI had such a great time last week at the Big Brother 8 finale. We had our own little Realitywanted star sitting in the Big Brother back yard with all the other press outlets and waited one by one to talk with each cast member. One of my favorites was Jessica. I overheard some guests in the green room talking about Jessica and how they felt about her. Most agreed they liked Jessica much more as the show progressed. They felt Jessica came off a little rough at first but many fell in love with her as the show went on. Enough about what I heard, lets move onto the interview.

Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: Is it going to be strange to walk out that backdoor and get back to the real world?

A. Jessica Hughbanks: Not at all, I have missed the real world a lot I am ready to go back.

Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: How many days have you been in lockdown?

A. Jessica Hughbanks: 81 days

Q. Mark RealityWanted.com – Why did you decide to apply to the show?

A. Danielle Donato – When my dad and I were actually getting along we applied for season six as the partners but I was too young then. I’m so glad I didn’t make it make it then since I would have been an emotional wreck; but we applied separately to season 8 and somehow we both made it.
