Wednesday night’s auditions took place in Charleston, South Carolina. Out of 10,000 contestants only 23 made it to Hollywood. There were a lot of NO’s from the three judges and I was feeling their pain. There was no one person that really stood out in my opinion. My favorite of the night, however, was London Weidberg from Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina. How often do you get to see a young person emulate Billie Holiday these days?

American Idol 7 Episode Three Recap

American Idol is back……and all I can say is thank God! With the writers strike my Tivo has been hungry to tape something worth watching for several weeks now.

American Idol is into their 7th Season which commenced last week with visits to Dallas and Philadelphia. Tuesday night’s episode took place in sunny San Diego, but much of the singing wasn’t very sunny from where I sat. I love American Idol….it’s one of my all-time favorite reality shows. But I take no pleasure in listening to tone-deaf vocalists. I’m such a harsh critic when it comes to singing that even if a church choir is bad, I won’t return for services the following Sunday!

Reporter: How is it sitting through the auditions?

Simon Cowell, (American Idol): It is torture! It is fun to watch the process but it is tough sitting through it but you have to have that mix. We enjoyed all the cities we visited and met a lot of great talent.

Former ‘American Idol’ finalist Jessica Sierra gets probation and reality tv show

Former ‘American Idol’ finalist Jessica Sierra pleaded no contest to hitting a guy with a beer bottle at a bar in FL in April.  She was also charge with cocaine possession.  Sierra was slapped with a year of probation but told her record will be clean once probation is completed.  Sierra has been in rehab since July and also filming the new VH1 reality show “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.”

American Idols Carrie Underwood Snags Two Trophies At The CMA’s

American Idols Carrie Underwood snagged the female vocalist of the year and single of the year awards at the 2007 Country Music Awards show Another American idol alum, Kelly Pickler, also appeared on the CMA’s singing “I Wonder”. Underwood told WKRN channel 2 in Nashville,
“It’s always a surprise, it really is. It’s just been a good night, what can I say? It hasn’t really sunk in yet, I don’t think. Underwood won the 4th season of FOX’s American Idol. Her debut album was the fastest selling country album in Nielsen soundscan history.

JORDIN SPARKS IS CROWNED THE “AMERICAN IDOL”

aidol6finale_2127f.jpgThe extraordinary sixth season of AMERICAN IDOL came to a spectacular conclusion tonight as 17-year-old Jordin Sparks was crowned the competition’s youngest-ever winner during the live two-hour season finale on FOX. Sparks from Glendale, AZ, emerged as America’s choice in a competition that began with over 100,000 hopefuls who auditioned in San Antonio, Minneapolis, Memphis, Birmingham, Los Angeles, New York and Seattle. Over the course of the season, viewers cast a record-breaking number of votes – almost 610 million – in support of their favorite contestants. Amazingly, 74 million votes were received after Tuesday’s performance show, shattering the previous world record of 70 million set April 24 following the IDOL GIVES BACK fund-raising special.
