Last Comic Standing Recap From Wednesday August 1st 2007

I am looking forward to this episode of LCS because of the change in format…the CHALLENGE ROUND! We first see the contestants getting into a yellow school bus in LA with Mel Silverback dressed up as an ape driving the bus. I didn’t like him when he tried out, and I don’t like him now.

The first challenge is the heckle. Here are the pair ups for this round. The partners will take turns heckling and being heckled.
- Debra and Lavell
- Ralph and Gina
- Doug and Dante
- Matt and Amy
- Gerry and Jon

First up is Lavell getting heckled. Lavell is responding AMAZINGLY to Debra’s heckles. He just set the bar right there.

Then we get Jon performing. Gerry is not doing such a great job at heckling.

Amy performs next. Matt is doing great at heckling but Amy is doing great responding too.

Gina performs next. Heckler and hecklee both did good, not great.

Dante is performing now, talking about his 4 year old daughter. Doug is not such a great heckler, but Dante is responding really well. But at some point they get into this exchange where you can’t really tell who’s saying what.

Now we swap hecklers and hecklees.

Doug starts making jokes about Dante which is an awesome way to avoid getting heckled.

Amy makes a great Harry Potter heckle, followed by a Ring one, to which he responds, have you ever read an adult book which is so funny. Not an adult book I’m sorry (that might just be misconstrued), I mean a book for adults.

Ralph makes an amazing come back after getting told he looks like a peanut with hair.

Jon heckling is not good and the come backs are not good either.

Debra performing next, she and Lavell seem to be in a world of their own. Their exchange is good, but it’s almost like the audience wasn’t there.

The audience members are voting for the winner of this challenge, which gives them immunity. The winner is…Lavell, he was great heckling and getting heckled. He’s safe this week and he’s also getting sent to Canada to perform at a comedy festival.

Back after the break it’s back on the big yellow bus for a coliseum visit which is bizarre especially when we see Bill Bellamy coming across from a big “sepia-colored” screen. They find out that two performers will go home tonight.

Levell goes into the booth and challenges Dante, followed by Dante who challenges??? Oh I get it this is like Survivor where you don’t really know who’s getting the most votes until the very end.

So Dante gets the most votes and he’ll be opposed by Gina and Ralph. 2 of those 3 people will go home, and I’m betting it’s Gina and Ralph and that Dante stays.

Bill Bellamy does stand up comedy for a while, and after the break we get our performances. First up is Gina who talks about face transplants, pretty good. I’m just so happy that the sets are longer than 10 seconds! Then Dante is up, who is clearly freaking out and has some energy to burn. Is his daughter Irish? Who knows but it was funny when he called Bill Black Daddy.

After the break it’s Ralph Harris. He made me laugh out loud he was so good. Now I feel bad because even though I have a soft spot for Dante because of his 4 year old daughter who wants a puppy, I really have to say out of the 3 Ralph is the one that deserves to stay. And the audience seems to agree based on the applause.

So 62% of the votes go to Ralph Harris. I knew it, I feel so bad for Dante but Ralph really did deserve it. And Dante was my favorite so, again, shows you how much I know about comedy! (I know I’ve said that already and I’m sure I’ll have to keep saying it).
